A ground cable’s purpose is to direct any extra current safely into the floor. The surge link from the protector remains inactive until a bigger than normal voltage appears. This excess current is then safely diverted through the excess earth wire, directly into the floor. This averts more current than normal from flowing into your appliances efficiently ensuring that they are protected from any harm which can be caused by power surges.
