Power Surge Protection

Power surges are not possible to forecast, their causes including sudden voltage spikes, power supply faults, defective household appliances, and thunderstorms. In certain situations, even a small power surge may wreak havoc on your electric systems, damaging them beyond repair.

How a surge protector works

The live cable or main power line at a surge protector includes an additional linked connection that feeds to an earth wire. An earth wire’s purpose would be to direct any extra current safely into the ground. The surge connection in the protector stays inactive until a larger than normal voltage seems. This extra current is then securely redirected through the extra earth wire, directly into the floor. This prevents more current than normal from flowing to your appliances efficiently ensuring that they are protected from any harm that could result from power surges.
